We are a Christian Church with a vision to impact Saffron Walden and the surrounding area with the Love of God in both Spiritual and practical ways.
The purpose of this site is to show you a little of what we do, where we do it, and how YOU can benefit.
We meet every Sunday at 10:30am for a service that usually lasts about an hour. Afterwards, everyone is warmly invited to stay for a hot drink and biscuits.
On the second Sunday of each month, our service has a more prayer‑focused feel. After a short break for a hot drink and biscuits, we also hold a Bible study, and everyone is welcome to join us for that too.
The Salvation Army in the UK and Ireland territory is divided into 14 divisions, and this church is in the ‘East of England Division’. To see more about the divisions in the United Kingdom and Ireland Territory, visit this page

Every pound she raises will go directly toward supporting the vital work of The Salvation Army.

Transport Secretary thanks Salvation Army after Bedford incident
Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander has publicly thanked Salvation Army response teams for their support to emergency services and responders following the train collision near Bedford on 19 June, recognising their professionalism and compassion. Our teams worked in shifts from Friday evening through to Sunday evening to maintain a continuous presence, providing refreshments and pastoral support to the emergency services.
The Salvation Army provided critical on-the-ground support to emergency services and responders following the tragic train collision near Bedford on Friday, 19 June. Teams were deployed within hours of the incident and remained at the scene through the weekend, offering practical and emotional assistance to those working tirelessly in the aftermath.
The Salvation Army Community Services received a call to respond from British Transport Police at 6:50 pm and quickly mobilised The Salvation Army’s Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) from local teams including Bedford Congress Hall and Kettering Citadel. The operation continued from late Friday through to Sunday evening, with personnel working in shifts to maintain a continuous presence at the scene. For more information click here.
The Salvation Army brings practical help and hope after devastating Venezuelan earthquakes
After a gruelling 19-hour journey to reach the affected area, a team of seven trained Salvation Army volunteers has set up a base in a local church and begun distributing relief items to people in urgent need.
The team has purchased food, drinking water, blankets and mattresses from local supermarkets. Tarpaulins have also been bought to provide temporary shelter for people whose homes have been destroyed or made unsafe. Feminine hygiene kits, nappies and other hygiene products have also been distributed.
At the time of writing, authorities had confirmed that more than 1,450 people had lost their lives and around 40,000 remain missing. More than 12,000 people have been displaced from their homes. For more information click here.
