Modern slavery

Modern Slavery can take many forms and it can be hard to spot, even though it’s often happening right where we are, but hidden in plain sight.

Many people are tricked, traded, and trapped into modern slavery by criminals as they try to escape poverty, persecution, and conflict.

We provide specialist support to protect and care for all adult survivors of modern slavery in England and Wales through a government contract which was first awarded in 2011.

Our confidential referral helpline 0800 808 3733 is available 24/7. Watch the video below to find out more about the people we help and how we work with them. For more information, click here.

Limelight: A Salvation Army documentary

Limelight is a documentary that brings to life a remarkable chapter of Salvation Army history: the Limelight Department in Melbourne, Australia. Established in the late 19th century – before Hollywood existed – the pioneering film studio used lantern slides and early motion pictures to share the Army’s message, educate communities and inspire faith.

Through restored archival footage and compelling interviews, Limelight reveals how the Limelight Department harnessed the power of new media to connect with people in imaginative ways. Their story is one of bold creativity and vision, showing The Salvation Army as a leader in using technology to make a difference.  Read more …

Salvation Army and 7/7

Salvation Army remembers those affected by 7/7
The Salvation Army is privileged to have attended today’s commemoration service for the 20th anniversary of the London bombings, at St Paul’s Cathedral, for all those directly affected. We were represented by Lieut-Colonel Paul Kingscott, Lieut-Colonel Jane Cowell, Major Muriel McClenahan (retired) and Major Anne Read (retired). At the time of the bombings, The Salvation Army responded immediately, as well as over several months, offering pastoral and practical support to first responders, survivors and the families of victims.
